Downtime

I haven’t really been doing much with any dolls lately, mostly I’ve been toying with the idea of selling most of them. I haven’t come to any conclusions about it yet, but at least a clothing/wig purge is in order, they’ve really piled up.

Lately most of my free time has been devoted to drawing, reading, and really just procrastinating. This autumn has gone by really quickly, and I feel like I have been sick a LOT. I had my appendix removed late October and have had a few flus as well.

I’ve also had some computer trouble in the form of sudden blue screens and slowness, which have been mostly solved. But I suppose I have to come to terms with the fact that 5-6 years is the lifespan of my computers.

The next time I post will probably be the end of the year summary. I’ll have to see about continuing this blog too, I very rarely update it anymore anyway.

Arrival of a New Little One

I’ve actually had this doll over a month now, I’ve just been too busy to remember posting these pictures.

Lina was a limited edition and I ordered clothes for her too, so this took a bit longer. (I’ve also heard that Iplehouse has had to size down because of the recast problem, so their production is slower.) Her resin color is normal.

The box felt very light, but everything was there!

I still haven’t given her a faceup, and her name is a mystery. It might be “Lambert” and he might be a boy… But I’ll get to it.

Starting May

Hello!
A lot has happened since I last posted. I sold Marlene’s shell (iplehouse Raffine), gave faceups to both Souldoll Hari and Paw, and ordered a new doll.

First up, Raffine. I really loved how beautiful she was, but she was just too heavy and tough to handle for me. I sold her via Den of Angels to Italy, and she has a lovely new home and character there 🙂

In a moment of regret, I started looking for a new shell for Marlene’s character and ended up with Impldoll Azalea. She should do nicely. I haven’t ordered her yet, I need to save up some money. Marlene’s character and story is one of the better developed ones of my dolls, which is why I had a brief panic of selling her off. But I think this has been for the best.

 

A bit before that I gave faceups to both Haile (Hari) and Luc (Paw).

Something went wrong with their initial coats of sealant; I had sprayed them a few days early but the sealant was a bit soft and flaked off. I redid Haile’s face completely, but left Luc’s they way it was because I noticed it too late.

And Luc. I’m not too pleased with any of his faceup, so I’ll redo it the next time I break out my faceupping gear

The money I got from Raffine was supposed to go towards buying a new shell for Marlene or getting a body for my floating Hazy, but I couldn’t resist those horns and ears and little hooves…
So I pretty much sold an Iplehouse doll to gain an Iplehouse doll. It’s fine.
I ordered her on 29.4., we’ll see when I get her. Iplehouse have generally been really quick to ship.

Souldoll Hari Arrival

They are finally here!!

Eight months! On top of the wait Carol had shipped the doll to my old address for some reason, so there were a few extra days of waiting because UPS sucks.

When I opened the box, I saw that the body was wet o.O
Otherwise the doll was dry, so I guess it’s just condensation. We’ve been having about -20C temperatures for the past few days, so that’s probably to blame.
The head also has a dark, textured scrub (that doesn’t show in pictures very well) and on the bottom of the right foot there’s a mark, but those are the only marks I found.

Hari’s character has somewhat formed while waiting. Their name is Haile, and they’re non-binary/genderqueer, extremely chill, and have great eyebrows. They/she pronouns. I had to instantly try on clothes and wigs for them!

I was surprised to find out that they came with eyes, since to my memory the order page specifically said that there’d be no eyes. *shrug* It’s nice, Souldoll eyes have been a great quality. I have Eyeco eyes in storage for them though, so they won’t stay.

I’ll go back to drawing. We’re doing a webcomic with my gf and it’s taking up most of my free time. I’ll put it online sometime in the summer.

Souldoll Paw arrival

In the first week of January I got an offer on the Den of Angels in response to my WTB for Souldoll Paw. We ended up making a deal, and just yesterday evening I finally got my Paw! He is very pretty, has very large ears and I love him.

Of course I took some box opening shots.

He had with him the Wolf head & hands with Souldoll makeup, which I’ll probably sell, since I don’t think I will use them. He is cast in Sandy brown resin. Now I only need a “white skin” Souldoll doll and I’ll have all the “main” colors they use… ^_^’

I need to get him some clothes, that jumpsuit isn’t really his style :D… He already has shoes on the way.  I hope he will find his place among the other 1/4 dolls. And a name.

Doll Year 2017 and Plans for 2018

I can’t believe it’s already the end of 2017! At the same time it feels like this year took forever and that the autumn has sped by.
This year I actually reached, at least in part, my goals of completing dolls and buying furniture etc for them instead of getting new dolls. Feels nice! And my doll plans seem to be a bit clearer for next year.

I’m so glad I got the Hazy head, I actually missed it when it was put for sale in a Finnish BJD-group, but it’s buyer sold it to me after they found out it didn’t fit their plans.

Well that was short. It was a nice head but not one for me.
I also put my Iplehouse Raffine up for sale and a feeler for my Dollshe Rey Lewis, but I’m in no hurry. I might not sell at all, depending on how their story develops.

Souldoll Soulkid Hari (19.6.2017)

I placed my order in June through Angelesque and I’m still waiting -_-‘
Apparently Souldoll have some problems with staffing, that’s the reason Carol gave me for the delay. I have no idea when she might arrive and I’m kind of bummed about it. I know 6 months isn’t that extreme when it comes to doll orders but it’s taking the title of longest wait from my previous record holder. (Dollshe Pure body, 5 months 2 weeks.)

I’ve seen some of these charts done, so I thought I’d do one myself

Next year I hope to dig deeper to my dolls characters and stories, and some more furniture would be nice. Joseph needs better, tailored clothes and Marlene could use new clothes too.
I’ve been eyeing a body for my hazy head, but it’s from Dollzone and I know they’re really slow…

Faceup for Quu

I Finally got around to painting Quu’s face. We had a faceup “party” with Emiri on 31st of July since she doesn’t have anywhere to spray sealant and our balcony airs out really well.

First I thought I’d make her mostly blue, teal and minty green, but couldn’t get the colors right and ended up making her pink, purple and green, with some blue accents. This was the first time I used glitter dust in a face up and it was fun, though it’s shine get dimmed a bit under the sealant.

The kind of weird sculpting of her upper lip made me mess up her lips really badly and I had to start all over when I was nearly finished the first time. So this is the second iteration of the face up, made in much more of a rush. I’m still quite pleased with it, the lips didn’t come out as well as I’d have liked, but her eyes definitely distract from that 😀

I love how her metallic Eyeco eyes catch the light!

I also gave her a quick body blush on her upper body, and manicure to both sets of her hands.

Blog address changed

A little over a week ago I decided to change this blog’s address to jeimsdolls.wordpress.com because the old one had bothered me pretty much since I made it.
This decision might have been a mistake, since there might be some dead links I can’t remember and of course some people might have bookmarked the blog which might cause problems.

It’s still the same blog, just in a new place.

In other news I have clothes on the way for Joseph and I had some clothes delivered yesterday. They were really cheap and from eBay, something I had decided against ordering because they are usually low quality (and might have problematic origins)  – and they were bad. Wouldn’t buy again.

Tea in her (really big) overalls which had some really shoddy sewing in the back. Not slim mini size.

Yesterday I decided to take a group photo of all of our resin dolls. It was fun to finally have them together even though half of them are not completed (in a sense that they don’t have a body, or faceup, or clothes). Posing a lot of dolls was challenging and some things I only noticed when I started to go through the images on my computer. (One of the things is that I still don’t know how to use my camera :D)

I also have one doll on the way! Souldoll limited MSD head Hari and a body for her in milk cocoa skin from Angelesque. It’ll take about 4 months and I’m so excited! I have such a weakness to Souldoll. They are also discontinuing some sculpts at the end of the summer, including Soulkid Sasha that I’ve been meaning to buy. I’ll see if I have enough money or ideas for her.
