Arrival of a New Little One

I’ve actually had this doll over a month now, I’ve just been too busy to remember posting these pictures.

Lina was a limited edition and I ordered clothes for her too, so this took a bit longer. (I’ve also heard that Iplehouse has had to size down because of the recast problem, so their production is slower.) Her resin color is normal.

The box felt very light, but everything was there!

One package for doll, other for clothes.

In the doll package was also manual. (Ganu’s feet featured upper right corner.)

I still haven’t given her a faceup, and her name is a mystery. It might be “Lambert” and he might be a boy… But I’ll get to it.

Look at this cute prince! I’d like a curlier and darker wig for him, but I’m still looking.

Starting May

Hello!
A lot has happened since I last posted. I sold Marlene’s shell (iplehouse Raffine), gave faceups to both Souldoll Hari and Paw, and ordered a new doll.

First up, Raffine. I really loved how beautiful she was, but she was just too heavy and tough to handle for me. I sold her via Den of Angels to Italy, and she has a lovely new home and character there 🙂

In a moment of regret, I started looking for a new shell for Marlene’s character and ended up with Impldoll Azalea. She should do nicely. I haven’t ordered her yet, I need to save up some money. Marlene’s character and story is one of the better developed ones of my dolls, which is why I had a brief panic of selling her off. But I think this has been for the best.

 

A bit before that I gave faceups to both Haile (Hari) and Luc (Paw).

Something went wrong with their initial coats of sealant; I had sprayed them a few days early but the sealant was a bit soft and flaked off. I redid Haile’s face completely, but left Luc’s they way it was because I noticed it too late.

And Luc. I’m not too pleased with any of his faceup, so I’ll redo it the next time I break out my faceupping gear

On top of this I bought a new doll!

The money I got from Raffine was supposed to go towards buying a new shell for Marlene or getting a body for my floating Hazy, but I couldn’t resist those horns and ears and little hooves…
So I pretty much sold an Iplehouse doll to gain an Iplehouse doll. It’s fine.
I ordered her on 29.4., we’ll see when I get her. Iplehouse have generally been really quick to ship.

Nothing more this time!

Stringing problems, but anyway nice horns

Today and yesterday I worked on the leg modification of Poro (my Iplehouse BID Nami). And only after the whole ordeal I realised I didn’t even take pictures of it.
I recently bought Soom Ai hoof legs for him and when I first tried them on him I noticed that Soom and Iplehouse legs differ from each other in both stringing technique and design, which was to be expected.

So I got some Milliput and thought my problems would be over if I just turned the string “openings” on the thighs the right way round and made the upper thighs a bit bigger.
Not a chance.

Annnnd they are far too small to put the elastic through properly. I did manage to string the legs on him, but I couldn’t get them tight enough. He just wouldn’t stand. And I ended up unintentionally unstringing his other leg when I tried tightening the elastic.

These are the legs before I sanded them to be a bit smoother and before I attempted to string them on him.

I didn’t get any pictures of the doll with the legs strung on because I was quite frustrated and ready to give up at that point. I ended up putting his own legs back on and burying the hooves in my miscellaneous doll stuff drawer.
I might try them again later, maybe if I sand the openings a bit… I just have to psych myself up to it.

Here Poro is now, he is wearing his head band from Kuloft and a sweater from SweetNeat. At least he looks cute!

My Simply Divine Thomas has been shipped last Friday! He is on his way, I’m so excited ❤

New camera and autumn plans

I got a new camera today! 🙂

It’s a Sony α5000. My old Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-H3 has been with me for at least 8 years and the picture quality has started deteriorating. It still functions perfectly well, but the pictures are way more grainy and soft, and it needs a lot more light to be able to bring objects to focus.

I can’t wait to try the new one out. I just have to get a new memory card for it, I didn’t realize the old one isn’t compatible… I guess you can’t think about everything.

Now to the doll plans..!

I have been waiting for my Simply Divine Thomas since the first half of July and I’m slowly beginning to wonder how much longer it will take. I’m prepared to wait a few months, but it seems (according to Simply Divine’s feedback on Etsy)  that most people received theirs in a really short time, in just a few weeks.
I’ve already got him a wig and eyes and even a name: Joseph. He is probably going on an Akagidoll 72cm body, but he will have to float around a while ’til I get the money to get one. (Taking out more student loan is looking more and more inviting…)

The other guy I’m waiting for is the dreamy Dollshe 28M Classic Rey Lewis. I’ve adored the 28M bodies for a long time, but neither of the heads available appealed to me much. Rey Lewis is perfect though, and with the discounted price I almost didn’t feel bad for purchasing him. He is still 2 months away, so I’m trying not to think about him too much.

Apart from those dudes, my smallest boy is waiting around without legs for Milliput to arrive so I can mod his Soom Ai hooves.

Here you can see how badly they fit! He was able to stand with careful posing. The legs are a yellowed Soom Cream White and he is a yellowed Iplehouse Normal Skin(I think). I painted the legs white with acrylic paint and blushed the hoof-parts with pastels.

He will be a deer boy and his name is Poro, after my ingeniously named old OC who was a reindeer called Poro. I have a head band with antlers for him, but I’m not sure if I’ll make my own antlers from Milliput or Fimo. I’ll be making a more detailed post about modding the legs and maybe a review about the head band.
